When the vehicle is on the corner or the time of acceleration and deceleration, oil in the oil pan will lean or jump. To prevent these to happen, baffle is assembled in the pan of stock engine. Though, in terms of sports driving, it is almost impossible to achieve its purpose because the size of the baffle is restricted to cut down the production cost. If oil leans to one side largely, air goes in to the pipe instead of oil and interrupts continuous oil lubrication. Without oil, metal surface contact directly each other, then the temperature rises explosively and causing worn out if its lasts long.
On the other hand, Tomei movable baffle plate is made to achieve stable oil lubrication at any situations such as curving, acceleration, and deceleration. And it will secure the improvement of engine performance from street use to the drag racing or circuit run. |

The Orifice controls the amount of oil flow that is delivered to the head to lubricate the parts in the cylinder head and to cool down the engine assembly. However the stock oil-gallery orifice has a hole that is too large which allows too much oil to be delivered to the cylinder head which will cause the problems as listed below.
(1) Too much blow-by Gas,
(2) Blowing engine oil,
(3) Leaking oil through the valve guides,
(4) Insufficient oil delivery to the crank journal,
(5) Allows air pockets into the system from when the oil pan is under horizontal G-Forces.
The TOMEI oil gallery orifice was designed from the experience and data we had obtained from the development of our N1 endurance and drag racing engines. By restricting the
diameter of the orifice to φ1.5mm (Normal is φ2.0mm) we succeeded in securing enough lubrication to the camshaft and valve while maintaining the correct amount of oil in the
oil pan which resolved the common problems. (For added Blow by prevention, we recommend using the TOMEI 3D Profile pistons.) |

The
SR20 engine's factory
oil block tends to fail
due to the weak oil filter
sensor screw which often
breaks. We here at TOMEI
had found the problem
during professional racing
over a decade ago, so
we designed & produced
this upgrade oil block
which solved the problem.
We had later discountinued
this product after the
end for the N2 series
race but due to popular
demand we had to bring
it back into production
with a new revived design.
Now being lighter than
before with ports for
oil temperature and oil
pressure sensors. The
failure in the oil block
can lead to engine failure
so this is an absolute
must have upgrade to protect
your investment. Especially
with vehicles running
a sandwich block or similar
the oil cooler can fail

One of the main causes of engine problems on an EJ20 are the bearings. The majority of the causes of these issues are due to the lack of motor oil in the oil pan (sump) and passages. Also, the lack of rigidity in the crank case is also another problem facing this engine design. Under extensive research, Tomei Powered which decided to develop a product that securely remedies these problems. This baffle stiffener will help strengthen the left and right side of the crankcase to help provide the added support with its dual structural design. The rubber baffle design greatly aids the regulation of the oil supply. This gives added control to reduce blowby for EJ20 owners who use their cars for high performance driving.

One
of the seldom-weak points
of the 4G63 is the rise
in oil temperature. It
is seen more often in
circuit driving. The EVO
uses a thermo switch that
will work when the temperature
gets around 85ーC (approx
185ーF). Yet when the oil
temp is low, it will restrict
the oil flow to the oil
cooler constantly regardless
of the temperature. Still
it is easy to revert back
to the OEM switch for
winter use to prevent
over cooling.
