TOMEI – The Engine Specialist –

Tomei Powered USA Inc., established in October 2006, is an automotive performance tuning parts manufacturer based in Lake Forest, California. 
The company is 100% owned and operated by Axesta Inc., headquartered in Zama, Kanagawa Prefecture, in Japan. 
At the Japanese headquarters, all product development and control of manufacturing for the TOMEI brand are carried out.

The Japanese headquarters Axesta Inc., was established by former Tomei Powered Japan executives and engineers, led by Akira Sasaki, who served as CEO of Tomei Powered Japan for many years up until 2014, to produce world-class tuning parts that go beyond Japan’s limitations.

With the rich experience of new members and continuous research and development, Axesta has successfully developed many high-performance and durable products.

Axesta Inc. owns two brands: TOMEI and R.S.E.
In the Americas and Europe, it operates as TOMEI “The Engine Specialist,” while R.S.E. “Real Speed ​​Engineering” targets the Asian and Oceanian markets.

Before 2014, TOMEI USA was mainly developing products for Japanese market with vehicle inspection restrictions in Japan. Now, Axesta Inc. has raised the market standards to a higher technical level and is developing products that will meet high-end standards around the world.  The products developed by the Axesta Group aim to build products that far exceed the regulatory standards in Japan.

Since 2014, TOMEIUSA has been offering a wide range of top-notch tuning products, including internal engine parts such as crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts, various valvetrain components, and head gaskets.  High-performance exhaust parts include full titanium mufflers and stainless-steel exhaust manifolds, and peripheral parts such as ball bearing turbos to name a few.

Axesta Group, TOMEIUSA, and R.S.E. will continue to work hard and improve every day to help those who love tuning and racing.

Founder Akira Sasaki

Founder and CEO Akira Sasaki joined Tomei Powered Japan (then Tomei Motors) in 1987. He developed many performance parts for the company through his involvement in motorsports, laying the foundation for what TOMEI is today.  During his 12 year tenure, he held many positions at the firm – including Technical Director – before being appointed to CEO in 2003. Until his resignation in February 2014, he continued to lead the company to great success, growing both the brand and the firm to a global scale.

From Japan to the world

The strict regulations in Japan surrounding noise levels and vehicle safety inspections left Akira feeling limited as to what kind of performance parts could be developed at Tomei Powered Japan. Akira had a strong urge to develop performance parts that would be free of these constraints and compromises.

New company, familiar faces

Determined to set a new global standard for high performance tuning parts developed without compromise, Akira decided to start over. And so, in 2014, together with many that shared his dream, Akira resigned from Tomei Powered Japan and went on to found Axesta Inc. the same year. Axesta Inc. had acquired 100% of the shares for TOMEI POWERED USA INC., signaling the start of a new challenge/chapter for Akira and his team, managing operations in both Japan and the USA.

Commitment to developing world class performance tuning parts for Japanese cars

At the time, the Japanese market was seeing an increase in high quality tuning parts for Japanese cars from the USA and Australia. Seeing this, Akira and his team at Axesta Inc. all shared the same thought – “For Japanese cars, Japanese products should continue to be the world’s technological leaders.” This is still the driving force behind Axesta Inc. today.

Since its founding in 2014, the company has brought to market a multitude of high quality, high performance tuning parts that stand by this ethos. Sold under the R.S.E./TOMEI USA brands, these compromise-free parts are highly acclaimed and revered by racing teams, workshops and privateers not just in the USA but the world over.

This trademark is also officially registered by TOMEIUSA in the USA and other countries.

In 2024, a new headquarters was built in Komatsubara, Zama City, Kanagawa Prefecture. Equipped with various measuring instruments, machining equipment, roller dyno and USA-style logistics warehouse, the new HQ has made it possible to achieve an even higher level of manufacturing.

Through its two brands TOMEI USA & R.S.E., Axesta Inc. continues to pursue a higher level of technological development with the same ‘passion and pursuit’ since it’s founding. We strive to become a tuning brand loved and trusted by the whole world.

TOMEI /R.S.E. trades in many countries across the globe where the respective trademarks have been registered. Fundamentally, the same products are sold under both brands with the only difference being the logos.
